Chicken in Poppy Seed Paste(Chicken Posto)

Chicken Posto
Recently when I went to my sister's place for Bhai Phota, I was treated to a home made lip smacking Chicken Kosha. I had especially told them to prepare a light and home made dinner since I was supposed to reach their home after work.We had a superb dinner that day and while returning home, the taste of
the Chicken Kosha lingered on.It was prepared with Home made Bata Masala(Spice paste). The right amounts of Red Chilli paste, Cumin seed paste, ginger, garlic and bits of slit green chilli made it a true delight. The gravy was thick and perfectly balanced to go with the steamed rice and it very well completed the meal. While I was returning back home I had firmly decided to give this menu my own touch.
I used the same ingredients with the addition of brown onions, whole garam masala and poppy seed paste to transfer the conventional home made Chicken Kosha into a restaurant-ish dish.Be warned!

This is a hot and spicy dish.

  • In it, add the entire Chicken Marinade.
  • Under medium heat, stir and roast the chicken pieces till oil starts separating from the mixture. This should require around 30 mins.
  • Then add some amount of warm water and cook covered, stirring the chicken pieces occassionally so that the chicken does not stick to the bottom of the kadai.
  • The chicken should be done by the end of 30 mins.
  • Spread some melted ghee over the chicken to complete the dish.
